Singapore...Here we come

We both woke up very early by 5 AM s we have to catch up the Flight for Singapore at 10AM. As the Airport was 1 hour from the hotel , we got ready by 6.30 AM after packing up everything and bringing down the luggage to the lobby. We 4 were the first to have breakfast and we quickly went to the stall outside to have the ROTI CANAI. I took my favourite bread toast and egg omelette with other Malaysian cuisine. We   were done with the breakfast by 7 AM and straight away proceeded to the Airport on a SUV. By 8 we reached the KLIA2 and boarded the flight at 10 AM and reached Changi International Airport by 11 AM. Did all the immigration formalities , picked up some maps and tourist information leaflet from the airport and came out to meet the person who was waiting outside the airport to pick up us and drop at the hotel. It was a 8 seater van like the city tour van we had in KL. The driver Mrs IMRA was a Muslim lady with a grave attitude wearing a light pink hijab with a black head scarf. We tried to interact with the lady who was in her 40s but she was very serious and was quite reluctant to talk. Whatever information we were asking she always said “Your guide will describe”. Unlike Mr Das who was so helpful, this lady was exactly opposite. Anyways we stopped asking anything to her and concentrated on the beautiful landscapes, the roads , the greeneries and of course the far looking sea with the Singapore flyer, garden by the bay and the Skywatch tower from a distance. In 30 minutes ,the lady dropped us at HOTEL CHANCELLOR ORCHARD .It was almost 12.30 we were in the hotel lobby. We approached the receptionist Miss Sughasini for early check in as the normal check in time was 3 PM. She first assured us to give the room within 15 minutes , but after 45 minutes she said she was sorry to give any room and called he boss  a Lady too who again assured to give us at least one room for the ladies to get freshen. After much dilly dally after one hour and 15 minutes she said no room available. We were furious as they have wasted our one and half hour just sitting on the lobby. But to our rescue another lady came and she gave us 2 rooms after making us wait for more than 1.5 hours.Anyways we checked in the room by 1 PM . The room was beautiful with the road facing side completely glass overlooking the beautiful city scape of Singapore. However, we get ready quickly and by 2 PM were out for Indian Lunch and could not found any. We asked many people but no one could say anything about Indian restaurant. From google map we chased an Indian Restaurant which was nearly 700 meters but alas it was closed by then . The restaurants in Singapore has a strict timing. By 3PM everything closes. We had to eat all the cakes and biscuits which we took from India and that was our lunch. The search for nearest metro began. The nearest MRT (MASS RAPID TRANSIT) was DHOBY GHAUT .We searched for nearly 30 minutes as everyone is giving different direction and making us confused. Finally we could find the station SOMERSET. From there we were supposed to go to the Singapore flyer. We changed the train at Dhoby ghaut and tok another train to PROMENADE.We came out of the station and could able to see the giant MARINA BAY SANDS SKYPARK as well as the GIANT SINGAPORE FLYER.In fact all the top attraction of Singapore was in one place and in the other side of the river we could see the famous MERLION STATUE.From a distance we took some photographs with the SKYPARK in the background and then went to Singapore flyer. The Singapore flyer is the second highest flyer even its height is more than London eye.We had booked passes online way backin India and straight away went near the flyer. Took some beautiful pictures in front of the word statue SINGAPORE FLYER. We then went upstairs to get inside one bucket of the flyer. The speed of the flyer normally is very slow and one can view the entire Singapore without any hotch potch. It was an air conditioned cabin and we were moving up slowly along the circumference of the flyer enjoying the great view of the city. The view was getting better as we moving up.The breathtaking vista , the amazing city scape was giving goosebumps incessantly.Almost every thing can be seen from the flyer. Indeed it was an amazing ride and we left the flyer with timeless memories and stories which we will tell to our friends and relatives back in INDIA. We then walked along te beautiful  city scapes and taking photographs and reached Arts science Museum .It was almost 6 PM and we were damn hungry and we reached in front of the ART SCIENCE MEUSEUM.we sat on the concrete circumference of the beautiful water body in front of the museum and relaxed ourself. The pleasant breeze starts to flow making us to feel good. Just beside the place where we were sitting ,the famous Singapore river flowing calmly . the river side was beautifully maintained with wooden plank pathway for the people to walk .As it was evening time ,lot of people in  various ages were running, jogging ,cycling and doing exercises. We were motivated for sometime looking at their perfect structure .We then went on the riverside walkway. What an amazing evening it was .On the right side one can see the Singapore flyer ,on the back there was Sky park and on the front at the other side of the river the Skyscrapers were slowly getting illuminated. We spent nearly 30 minutes there and had the Indian Mixture we had taken with us.By the time the Sun has already slept and the Night sky of Singapore show edits true color. What a View it was,One cannot describe the beauty unless one can see in his own eyes.

We cannot believe ourselves in standing at such a location. We proceeded then to the the Bayfront building as we have to see the GARDENS BY THE BAY.Asit was too late we skipped  the idea of going into the garden rather to see the top view from the  top of the Bayfront Building. But before that and infront of the marina bay a beautiful  laser fountain show was being performed. It was really beautiful. Its a treat for the eyes as I have never seen such type of laser show.It was quite unplanned and we enjoyed the serendipity. It was around 8.45 we entered the Bayfront building inside which was a large mall.Without wasting much time we took the high escalator to reach the top .By that time we had no energy to walk anymore. Quickly we saw the Garden By the Bay from a distant and took a Lift and reached the downstairs to the MRT BAYFRONT. The Beauty of Singapore metro is that it does not have a dedicated building but is inside shopping malls,Hotels etc.I have commuted in Delhi, Kolkata,Berlin,Rome,Kuala Lumpur metro but never seen such a concept like Singapore metro. Anyway we were damn hungry .It is better to forget the condition of ladies as they were too tired😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫.Finally we reached the BAYFRONT Metro station near the ticket vending machine but the queue was too long.We asked the ladies to wait for us at one designated place .As we were supposed to  stay in Singapore for3 days , we decided to make 3 day Train pass which costs 20 SGD per person. We went straightaway to the office and asked for the same. The lady at the opposite side of the glass denied to give us the pass as the counter for 3 days pass was closed. Disappointed we returned to the ticket vending machine. The queue has become more longer and our ladies were sitting on the floor removing their shoes with a hungry face and an enervated body. However,it stood for 20 minutes before we could make the ticket to LITTLE INDIA .We took the blue line Metro and reached Little India  metro station.

From there , we walked around 500 meters in search of Indian restaurant.Little India as the name describes is a small India. One can find everything  Indian there  from Lauki to palak😊😊😊😊😊 .The ladies were excited to see the Indian household things there,Potatoes, onions, watermelons,Broom 😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝 and all  made the moment to feel at home.We reached ANANDA BHAVAN restaurant by 10.15  PM and we are the last customer as the restaurant closes by 10.30.Without wasting any time we ordered set thali for all 4.

It was a south Indian thali and was very tasty. The waiter , the manager and all the janitors there were Indian .We feel for some time we are at home as the food made to forget for sometime that we are in a foreign land. The feeling of having a good food after keeping ourselves hungry fora long time was really soul soothing.Literally it was pure Indian food which we never Imagined we can get . However, we made the payment and asked the ladies to wait for us  inside the restaurant as me and Malay went  to withdraw SGD from ATM as our calculated prediction said we willbe sort by 150 SGD for the entire Singapore trip i.e 700 SGD plus 120 SGD. We came out of the restaurant and went to a nearby Indian street. We dint withdraw anything then as we were not sure how much extra charges our bank will charge us.it was a tiring day and the sumptuous dinner made us very much relaxed and we regained our energy and spirit. We brought some packet of good days and sat on the front of one shop which was closed by then.To uplift our mood we brought 2 cigarretes and lit there in an Indian style ,the way we lit cigarette in front of any beetle shop or in a hangout place. We then brought 5 pass Pass Pass mouth freshner and quickly put them in mouth . Spent almost 20minutes there and went to our Ladies. ANANDA BHAVAN was cloed by that time and they were sitting on a bench in front of a shop beside the restaurant. As the nearest metro Station “DHOBY GHAUT”  fromour hotel was one stop away from Little India MRT ,we picked one and reached the MRT. The MRT office in the station on asking guided us by the gate and direction to reach our hotel. We came out from the gate as directed by that officer. As our phone battery was drained off,we asked for the direction to  one  teenagers  who was sitting with her friend outside the MRT. She got confused by the name of the hotel but soon she recalled and  helped us in directing us to the hotel. It was nearly 300 meters from DHOBI GHAUT MRT. All tired bidding a goodnight we went to our room  and called it a day.

The City is much different than KualaLumpur. As the name punchline Malaysia Truly Asia completely fits the country ,Singapore can be said as a little Europe.European culture has been ingrained in this place. I found much similarity.People are busy in their own business and seem to be a bit serious unlike the jovial atmosphere in kuala Lumpur. Anyways, I like the culture,I like the people the way they are busy ,I like them the way they are concerned about themselves only. Its a different culture .
