Tutorial:North Korea

On April 13,North Korea tried to launch the Unha-3 rocket which failed to put its satellite into the orbit. It was the third failed attempt by the isolated North Korea, previously attempted were in the year 1998 and 2009.The rocket was launched to mark the100th birth anniversary of its great leader and the founder president , Kim-II-Sung.The launch drew global condemnation especially from the United States, japan and South Korea and many calling it a violation of missile test treaty.

History
Politically most isolated North Korea  came into the global picture in the year 1948 following the end of World War-II.The US invaded South Korea and The USSR captured North Korea.North Korea turned communist under the influence of Soviets while South Korea which under the influence of America adopted democracy and a free market economy. The varying ideology of the two states led them to the Korean War(1950-1953) which inculcated intense hatred in the North for the South and utter contempt and fear in the South toward the North.Millions died in the Korean war which put the relationship between the two Korea into a never receding darkness.

Leader
Korean history was dominated by its great leader kim-II-Sung who shaped the country with the philosophy of Juche(self-reliant) .This rigid policy made the country isolated and made its economy stagnant. After the death of Kim Il-sung in 1994, Kim Jong-il  did not immediately assume his father's titles; there were reports that Kim Il-sung's first choice as successor was the younger brother, Kim Yong-ju. Kim Jong-il eventually became head of the Korean Workers' Party in 1997. Kim Jong-un, the youngest son of Kim Jong-il, succeeded his father as leader of North Korea following the elder Kim's death by a heart attack.

Nuke Ambition
Natural disasters and poor economic management has crippled the country. There is no adequate food for the people .Millions died of starvation.More than 1.9 million people have died in the last two decades of starvation. The country get the humanitarian aid to feed its people. But in the face of it,NK has a highly nuclear weapon ambitious plan.it is a nuclear state. It has vast army along with a large arsenal of missiles.Besides it carries a secret biological and chemical weapon programme. While the country spends millions of dollars on weaponisation programs,it does nothing to mitigate the hunger of millions of its population.Millions of people are unemployed, have no economic  freedom. The totalitarian state also stands accused of systematic human rights abuses. Reports of torture, public executions, slave labour, and forced abortions and infanticides in prison camps have emerged. A US-based rights group has estimated that there are up to 200,000 political prisoners in North Korea.
